Shreya Sharma talks about the Make in India scheme launched by Modi Government.
INTRODUCTION
Make in India is an initiative taken by the Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi, it is a project that promotes manufacturing of goods in the country. On 24th September 2014 this project was initiated by the Prime Minister. This project was launched as a backdrop of crisis India was facing till 2013.
Make in India encourages multi-national as well as national companies to manufacture their products in India. The main objective of this project is to create more job opportunities and skill enhancement. This project offers various companies to manufacture their products here in India, this would lead to setting up of factories and machines and would also require labour to manufacture products which would then lead to increase in job opportunities among people and this way the gap between the rich and the poor will decrease to an extent. Also, Make in India will help the country fight against poverty. This campaign also aims at high quality standards and minimising the impact on the government, a lot of factories release smoke which is harmful for the environment and also throw their waste chemicals into the rivers which then contaminates the water and make it difficult for the water bodies to survive, therefore, to minimise this harm which is caused to the environment, using of eco friendly methods of production are encouraged under this project.
Make in India is a good initiative taken by the government as it will encourage the Indian manufacturers to improve their quality of product so that even they can make a mark in the international market. Also with improved quality of the product of Indian manufacturers, people will prefer Indian products over international products which would then help our economy grow. Make in India focuses on the development and growth of 25 sectors namely:

Government has allowed 100% FDI in all sectors except space 74%, defence 49% and new media 26%.
The four major policies under the Make in India project are:
- This project aims at liberalising the trade which means reducing the protocols which are faced during dealing with a trade overseas or sometimes within the country has been eased.
- The foreign direct investment has removed restrictions on tea plantations.
- The government has worked on improving and protecting the intellectual property rights of innovators and creators by upgrading infrastructure and using state of the art technology.
- This project strongly aims at achieving increase in manufacturing growth to 12%-14%p.a., to increase share of manufacturing in the country’s GDP from 16% to 25% by 2022, to create additional job opportunities in manufacturing sector, to enhance global competitiveness of the Indian manufactures and also to ensure sustainability of growth, particularly with regard to environment.
The skill development program aims at fighting against poverty and also helps in developing entrepreneurship skills in an individual that would help every Indian to live with pride and dignity since this initiative would also help an individual with the skills to step up and run a business. Make in India not only aims at educating every Indian but also aims at providing job opportunities to the unemployed according to their respective qualification. This can be done when increase in investment will lead to growth opportunities and also the union government has been investing in various targeted areas under the campaign, it is being said that increase in investment will give a kick to the employment potential that lies in this sector.
Therefore it can be said that this project can do wonders for our nation if it is worked on properly and also it can help our Indian manufacturers gain international recognition if the quality of products manufactured by them is improved using the eco friendly technology which would also help us sustain our environment. Over the past 2 years since this project came into being, a lot of positive effects of this initiative have been seen as many international companies have shown their interest in manufacturing their products in India by buying land here for setting up of their factories. This way a lot of job opportunities will be introduced for people who have been unemployed and also these international companies will bring in new forms of technologies with them which would help in producing more products with minimum wastage and causing less harm to the environment and would also enhance the skills of the rural as well as the urban people. I strongly support this program and its positive effects will be seen in coming years.
