Richa Goel talks about the Beti Padhao Beti Bachao scheme launched by our Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi.

Why do only girls suffer? Why don’t girls have the right to live?

Sometimes girls think that they should not  have taken birth in world full of bias?

Girls have  a right to live just  like boys and they have a right to get education just like boys. Education is very important for each and every child irrespective of his/her sex.Right to education is a Fundamental right of every citizen which is given under Constitution of India.Even our Constitution  provides for free and compulsory education to the children between 6-14 age group.Education is the medium through which discrimination can come to an end.

There was a continuously decrease in Child Sex Ratio(CSR). A survey was conducted and it was noted that the ratio of girls was 945 in number in the years 1991 which further declined to 918 in number in the year 2001 which is an alarming situation.

As the number of girls are decreasing day by day  to the number of boys, a day will come when the parents of the boy will have to beg the girl’s parents for marriage.

Keeping in mind the bias and to stop the decreasing the Child Sex Ration and to empower girl child in a country the scheme Beti Bachao Beti Padhao was launched by our Prime Minister,Narendra Modi on 22nd January. Sakshi Malik was the brand ambassador of this scheme. It was launched in order to end the bias and discrimination  against women. The objective of this scheme is1)Save Your Child  2)Educate Your Child  3)To prevent sex determination  4)To stop female foecitide. Also to bring some positive changes in the society regarding the education of girl child.

There was another scheme “Sukanya Samiddi Yojana”which was established by our  Prime Minister, Narendra Modi in order to support “Beti Bachao Beti Padhao” .The objective of this scheme was to provide a bank account with more interest ad income tax benefits to the girl child below 10 years of age and the account are operative till they attain the age of 21.. The scheme was launched to provide financial support  to the family of the girl child so that they can provide a education to their girl child.

These scheme was for the first time started in Panipat from  Haryana where the Child Sex Ratio(CSR) has reduced to 837 girls to 1000 boys. It was implemented in 100 districts out of which 12 districts  were from Haryana.

It seems that we are living in 18th century where the girl child were killed in the womb ,where girl child was not allowed to go to school, college thinking that providing an education to them is useless as girls are parayadhan. People of  18th century consider the girl as a burden, on the other hand consider the boy child as their  property and boy child were given more important as compared to boys  because in older times the boy child will take care of them  and on the other hand thinks a girl has nothing to do with education as after marriage girls have to take care of her husband ,in-laws and their children. More than century has been passed, the time has changed but the mentality of the people regarding the education of child is similar to past ones.

The rate of crime against the women is increasing like rape, molestation, domestic violence etc.Do you know the reason behind this?

The reason behind this is lack of education  among women, they  are been dominated by male. As  still male- dominating  society  is prevailing  in present times especially in rural areas.Women are not able to defend themselves against the crime.

How can we forget that we are deteriorating our future by female foecitide? Sometimes whenever we think of female foecitide  we should think that many Kalpana Chawla,Kiran Bedi are killed in the womb even before they are born (before seeing the beautiful world).Girl are considered as Goddess Laxmi then by killing a girl child the parents as well as the doctor commit the sin .If  the doctors find it their duties to ensure girl safety and progress rather then killing the girl child in the womb, female foecitide can be reduced. Awareness among people  about both these schemes can be done through media ,newspaper ,radio , television ,street play, etc.

At last I want to say that if we want to develop our country we should bring an end to this bias and treat  boys and girls equally.
