“Change happens by listening and then starting a dialogue with the people who are doing something you don’t believe is right”.[1]

Youth begin a ‘new life’ as a result of change in generation. In order to bring about the necessary changes in the society, there must be free flow of ideas and therefore, contact with the youth would be valuable. Samvaad, 2015 is a distinguished podium whereby eminent personalities from various arenas like politics, business, academics, etc., exchange their ideas with each other so as to draw better and refined solutions.

There must be a partnership between the youth and the adult so as to develop a healthy relationship between the two. The youth should become the part of various youth organizations so that their voice can be given proper recognition among the crowd. It is very important for the public, especially, the youth, to express themselves and their creativity to the fullest and should come forward to work for good cause. In this way, they can earn respect for themselves and their allies. By elevating the role of youth voice, the relationships formed by youth-adult partnerships are said to combat ephebiphobia[2] and adultism[3]. A broad number of parties benefit from said partnerships, including the organizations where the partnerships occur, adults who are involved and youth themselves. Actual benefits range from increased commitment to higher feelings of self-efficacy as well as increased organizational effectiveness and civic engagement. Besides, Youth-adult partnerships have been found to be particularly effective in addressing school improvement, promoting global health initiatives and integrating technology in the classroom. Additional practice has identified significant roles for youth-adult partnerships in rural civic engagement projects and in creating effective outreach for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer and questioning youth.[4]

The overall stress is on the point that active participation of the youth is demanded and hence, a better dialogue is the ultimate demand. Social responsibility has to be viewed from a sensitive point of view. Feelings of efficacy, having leadership has to be taken seriously. Activeness in the community is facilitated by youth participation in community based groups. Interaction between social groups promotes awareness of needs and helps identify volunteer opportunities. Overall, a variety of motivations are present that shape civic behaviour and it extends to the manner in which people interact with each other.[5]

Youth has the capacity to develop the local well being and this can help in improving the developmental process of the nation. Samvaad is therefore, concerned with Social Activities that form the root of the development of any nation.
