Journalism is the art of collections and dissemination of information which should interest the readers. If we take example of newspaper, which is a vital part of media  law through news paper one can enlighten oneself with all kinds of subjects relating to economics, finances it and social problem or any other issue which the country or the world is facing. Newspaper does not have brutal force of a sword, but it plays and gets embedded in the mind of the people. The information that we receive through this medium, get reinforced and has a huge impact on our minds.

The recent Nirbhaya rape case, it was through media only that we got to know about the brutality with which the victim was raped. Most of the rape cases are ignored and paid no attention but with the coverage this incident got people are now aware of such happenings. Politics and news related to it is covered by media. Especially in the cases of corruption and any other political scams such as Anna Hazare “Second Struggle for Independence” movement. His movement which was only restricted to few parts of the country went rampant courtesy media he was later joined by many known personalities. It is the politics which helps in the administration of the country. In a democracy newspaper can enlighten the people in the matters of their rights and liberties. Even though media is the most forum but it has its own vices one of the retrospective aspect of media since time immemorial has been “Yellow Journalism”.

Yellow journalism is the journalism where the editor separates the wheat from the chaff and prints the chaff. Yellow journalism is the type of journalism that exploits, distorts, or exaggerates news to create sensations and attract readers. This method of journalism is used to increase circulation. However, news provided in yellow circulations is not given high news value by authorities. It is mostly considered as inflammatory and irresponsible reporting. Newspapers that practice yellow journalism are called yellow press. Now a days, yellow journalism is considered as an unprofessional or unethical practice. Twentieth century journalism was born in a little- remembered burst of inspired self promotion. It was born in a paroxysm of yellow journalism.

Yellow journalism is all out creating sensation, it is one of the abuses of media and a worst form of journalism, which goes against the essential principles of reporting as an unbiased and objective tool for conveying the news. Napoleon once exclaimed the he feared three newspaper more than thousand daggers that has been the power of journalism since napoleon era. The goal of journalism today is profit and record sales.It’s the new face of yellow journalism-news that is tainted and smacks of unprofessionalism. The best way to avoid the effects of yellow journalism is to check with several sources and don’t get all news from one place by this it is possible to see yellow journalism for what it is and keep an open and unbiased, mind when searching for the facts.
